Sixteen species of ducks were found at Lake Rathbun on sat. The lake is 20 % open. Besides the ducks 3500 Greater white-fronted Geese and 3000 Snow Geese with a few Ross's were present. Fox and White-Crowned Sparrows were also spotted. On Mon., Feb. 28th, my wife ,daughter, and I relocated the Polk City Saw-Whet after not finding it one month ago. Thanks to the path and directions from others. The last Saw-whet my wife had seen was one found on a Christmas count and later band by Judge Ayers in the late 70's in Ottumwa. Tom J.
