Saturday, March 5, 4:30. Cone Marsh in northern Louisa county was charged with migratory activity, mostly geese in numbers that were almost deafening. However, in the northwest corner we observed seventeen swans. We were unable to identify as tundra or trumpeter at our location from the road. Also we were lucky to see three sandhill cranes in flight on the south side of the public area. North of Lone Tree we also got a prolonged look at a light morph rough-legged hawk perching and hovering.
