Birders,
Sorry for the late post on some of this stuff, but I have seen a few
interesting birds the past couple of days:

At Gray's Lake on Friday, while looking at waterfowl, an Eastern
Meadowlark (ID'd by call) flew in and perched high in a Cottonwood
tree. It sat there for about a minute than continued on. Clearly a
pausing migrant, and probably the most unexpected bird I have ever
seen at Grays Lake!

On Saturday, on my way to Iowa Falls, I stopped at Little Wall Lake
and didnt have near the diversity some of you have. Mostly just Lesser
Scaup, Redhead, Common Mergansers, and a few Mallards. I also had a
male Northern Harrier near Williams. I had a small group of about 5
Rusty Blackbirds at Bjorkboda Marsh in Hamilton County as well.

Today, I ran into Aaron Brees and got great looks at the adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull as well as the unusual 1st year gull. I did not see
the Thayer's however. At Moeckley Prairie, I saw 300 or so Greater
White-fronted Geese and about 75 Snow Geese.

Good birding,
John Bissell
