This afternoon at Weise Slough in Muscatine County there were 18 waterfowl
sp. including 6 Trumpeter Swans and 100 Greater White-fronted Geese, plus
Pileated Woodpecker and Rusty Blackbird.

At Cone Marsh in Louisa County, several thousand Greater White-fronted and
Snow Geese were packed into the northeast corner, but afternoon glare made
viewing difficult. Aside from waterfowl, other birds included 1 Loggerhead
Shrike (intersection of 220th St. and T Ave.), 1 Great Horned Owl on nest
(NE of intersection of 220th St. and V Ave.), 20 American White Pelicans, 1
Great Blue Heron, 2 Sandhill Cranes, and 2 Northern Harriers. A group of
~20 swans was seen briefly in flight but settled down out of sight.
