Riverton is a small town in Fremont County. Believe it or not, it’s on the
map! The Riverton Game Management Area is about a mile north of the town on a
blacktopped road. One can enter there to an overlook- check where water and
waterfowl are located. The road around the entire refuge is one-way these days
clockwise), so one has to enter from the southwest corner and go north. The
entrance is about a mile west of Riverton. Getting close to the marsh requires
walking downhill from the first spot I mentioned (north of Riverton), or
walking eastward from a short access road about 2 miles north of the southwest
entrance. There used to be a waterfowl hunters’ check station there, but now
it’s no more.

  Hi all:

Got a reliable but unconfirmed report of 5 Brant at Riverton. This afternoon
(23rd) they were seen by an observer familiar with the species leaving the
marsh north of the main refuge dike and flying northeast. Unlikely they’d leave
tonight.
