This afternoon I chanced upon a group of 24 Swainson's Hawks as they rode an
east wind over a CRP field hunting. The land was actively being disked as part
of a mid contract management plan.

The land is on my father in law's farm in Pottawattamie County. My wife Ava is
the farm manager. I spoke with Mike the renter for the farm land after he was
through disking. He says the hawks were coming up with snakes and mice.  The
area being disked was about 28 acres. For getting good looks at Swainson's
hawks this was a great opportunity as they soared 75 to 100 foot off the
ground. There were several on the ground picking up their catch.
