Bob Norris and I spent a couple of hours birding Easter Lake in southern
Polk County this afternoon. There were still a good number of Yellow-rumped
Warblers and a Blue-headed Vireo so we are still in the beginning stages of
migration. We did, however, add Northern Waterthrush and my FOY Wilson's
Warbler as well as Swainson's Thrushes and a Scarlet Tanager that seemed to
really be on the move. Flycatchers included Great Crested and Least. All
in all, it was just a pleasant afternoon to be outdoors.
