An unfamiliar bird song lured me out to the backporch this evening. A
thrush was perched on a low branch of an old oak tree just outside the
porch.  I got a good look at the thrush, and the Patuxent site confirms
both the markings and the beautiful song...a Swainson's thrush.  Also,
lots of rose-breasted grosbeaks here over the past few days... a mature
male, two juvenile males and a female. Julie Horak Iowa City
