Jim, thanks for the update on the Western Sandpipers. We had a stunning meeting at Decorah. Birding was mediocre but all of the other aspects were the best I have ever attended. Camaraderie, programing, attendance at the presentations and business meeting all were powerful examples of a vibrant organization. Wish you could have joined us. God Bless,

The waters at Greencastle Ave. (the prime Western location) have receded so much that the shorebirds are farther away, thus harder to identify. And it won't be long before the west side is completely dry. Sand Point has never produced many Westerns for me and the area is becoming more vegetated all the time. But there's still peep habitat around so maybe more will show up. It has been one of the best seasons for Western Sandpipers so far.
