There are two Bald Eagles actively building a nest South of the Mason City High School on the Winnebago River, across from the Water Treatment plant. Look down-river on the left side high in a tree which I think was previously a heron rookery. The nest has gotten quite a bit bigger since last Friday when I first spotted the Eagles.
Also last Friday there were eight or more Trumpeter Swans a little farther down the river, but I did not see them the past two days when I checked. - Bruce McKee Mason City --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
