Today the marsh was a mix of ice and open water with Canada
and Greater White-fronted Geese numbering a few thousand.
Birds not so numerous but interesting were;

  1 Short-eared Owl
  4 Rough-legged Hawks
  3 N. Harriers
  5 Sandhill Cranes
 14 Trumpeter Swans

 Thanks to Ken Saunders who found and photographed the SE Owl in
the morning. To see the owl I stayed into the evening but it didn't
show until the sun had set. It flew among the N. Harriers for a few
minutes then perched on dead tree. The spot was past the first
connecting dike at the east end of the main dike. There's parked
DNR equipment on the main dike and the owl was farther to the west.
