Riverton WA is loaded with Snow Geese--500,000 to 600,000--my estimate--might
be more than that. At the refuge area near the Old Check Station, Snow Geese
cover the whole area. The birds feed early in the morning then return mid
morning to the refuge--around 4:30-5:00 they take off and feed again. Squaw
Creek NWR last count is only 320,000 Snow Geese. Lots of birds are still at
Rapp Park, too with close viewing opportunities mid afternoon before they go
out to feed.
If you want to see lots of waterfowl come to SW Iowa this weekend.
