Jim Forde's post mentioned a Rough-legged Hawk.

Seems that sightings are way down on this species this winter.  I saw an
average of 3-4 a day last year in the Woodbury County area.  Not so this year.
Any thoughts on this as to whether it is state wide or just in our area.

Subject: [ia-bird] 3 Swan Species at Amana Lily Lake

Today, Amana Lily Lake didn't have big numbers of waterfowl
but had a fair diversity. Interesting birds included:

2 Adult Mute Swans
32 Tundra Swans
7 Trumpeter Swans
8 Ross's Geese (flyover)
2 Cackling Geese
5 Eurasian Tree Sparrows (south side dike)

The marsh west of Middle Amana had 20 swans, mostly Trumpeters
but at at least one Tundra. The marsh was covered with Greater
White-fronted Geese and 2 Rough-legged Hawks (1 dark morph) were
overhead.

East of Amana along Amana Road were 6 Ross's Geese, 1 dark morph
Red-tailed Hawk and a Rough-legged Hawk.
