One of the children called us outside to see two hawks. By the time we were there, we saw one. It was a Red-tailed.
While we were scanning the sky, we were met with a wonderful sight. American White Pelicans. They lazily circled as a group and slowly headed west. Maybe they will land at Lake Panorama?? I took a few pictures, one of them far out to get a count. There were 97 of them. This isn't the whole group, but just three. Not a great picture, but I got a kick out of the one looking down. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-lrrGdqSIx_s/T2-nwvRvNJI/AAAAAAAACS4/iD_W2ztYxX0/s700/wheretoland.jpg Isn't migration wonderful? When else can we see Pelicans this far from water? Kim Gerety Western Dallas County PS Did this come through as plain text? I am in the plain text editor, but did anything happen with the link that would have created the extra code? --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
