We just checked this morning 3/25 and did not see the burrowing owl where
we observed it yesterday. I didn’t take a picture mostly because we’ve
seen burrowing owls and didn’t need another photo – probably should have
for documentation. In case someone wants to check further in the area,
here are the directions.

It was on 240th street west of Webster City, and just at a field driveway
east of the pond where there are dozens of wintering swans, locally known
as Beemer’s pond. The pond (borrow pit) is at the corner of Stagecoach
Road (R-21) and 240th, or the SE corner of the Highway 20 overpass for the
junction of R-21/Hwy 17 north. The burrowing owl was sitting near the east
culvert under the driveway and we had a very clear view of it for as long
as we wanted to look. The driveway and ditch around it are mowed short on
the north side of the road, a white PVC pipe sticks up several feet at
that drive.
