Des Moines Audubon visited Bays Branch, Long Pond, and Snake Creek Marsh
this morning. We only had 5 species of shorebirds, but 14 waterfowl
species (including a pair of Trumpeter Swans at Snake Creek) were nice. A
Pergrine Falcon was at Long Pond, while Snake Creek had a pair of Great
Horned Owls, Sandhill Crane, Great-tailed Grackle, and several
Yellow-headed Blackbirds. Ring-necked Pheasants were noted at several
locations, which was encouraging.
