Karen Disbrow said we could send a message to IA-Bird about our program for
the Iowa City Bird Club this coming Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at the
Conservation Education Center in Kent Park near Tiffin, Iowa. because their
program calendar for April and part of May is missing from their web site.
Information on Kent Park and a map can be downloaded at
http://www.johnson-county.com/dept_conservation.aspx?id=4055 This is a
different location than their usual meeting place.

This is the information from the IC Bird Club's newsletter:

Hummingbirds are synonymous with Cost Rica to many photographers and bird
watchers. Linda & Robert Scarth, from Cedar Rapids, were among a small group
of photographers who visited several locations with the aim of photographing
flight behavior and portraits of wild hummingbirds. These birds enjoy the
hospitality of bird feeders in gardens surrounded by wild forests. They also
visited a farm where wild, free-flying Great Green or Buffon's Macaws (Ara
ambiguus) and Scarlet Macaws (Ara macao) come to the farmer's call. Other
photo locations included snakes, lizards and frogs. These and the other
animals, plants and landscapes they photographed are found in their
presentation - "Costa Rica: Images from a Green Land."

We are delighted to see that the late summer IOU meeting in Marshalltown
will feature a program on hummingbirds. Last month, we had the opportunity
to photograph some hummingbirds in Ecuador. They are a challenge and a
delight.

Pardon the shameless plug,

Linda
