Birders, I spent the day at a couple of different properties in Monona and Harrison counties. I started the day at Blue Lake in Monona county where the most interesting birds were 7 White-faced Ibis. The birds were located on the wetland south of Blue Lake proper. Also at this location was the following:
26 Great Egrets 4 Soras ~50 Pied-billed Grebes 140 American White Pelicans 7 species of waterfowl 1 Common Loon (on Blue Lake proper) I then spent most of the afternoon at the Pisgah Unit of Loess Hills State Forest. Most interesting birds here were 7 Swainson's Hawks that were riding high on the strong winds. Other birds included several singing Field Sparrows, a pair of Eastern Bluebirds, and 4 American Kestrels. I also had a few FOY butterflies including Silver-spotted Skipper and American Lady.
