My Big Day partner cancelled on me, so I spend the morning trying to get closer to the shorebirds at Ventura. There were at least 16 species, mostly peeps and Pecs. But also 3 Black-bellied Plovers, 3 Willets, 1 Ruddy Turnstone and both Stilt Sandpipers and Short-billed Dowitchers.

Later, at Pilot Knob, I found a Cerulean Warbler singing along the roadway, about halfway between the tower and Deadman's Lake. The removal of trees around the tower has created extensive disturbed hillsides, perfect for a wandering Prairie Warbler. I didn't hear one today, but I think it would be worth checking.
