Birders, I checked Myre Slough in Winnebago County and Mallard Marsh in Cerro Gordo County looking for returning shorebirds. Myre Slough is 99% dry, and I saw nothing there, but there were 4 Gray Partridge near the slough along 370th St.
Mallard Marsh had more water, but was also very low water. I had the following birds of note: 2 Sandhill Cranes 4 Green Herons 120 Killdeer 50 Pectoral Sandpipers 25 Least Sandpipers 3 Lesser Yellowlegs Mallard Marsh should be great for shorebirds throughout this fall.
