Paul, thanks for your nice comments about Iowa Young Birders. We
appreciate your support.

As we continue to grow, we will indeed need help from everyone who has in
interest in helping to grow the next generation of Iowa birders. We've
put together a short list of wayson our website that people can get
involved:

 http://www.iowayoungbirders.org/getinvolved/

As far as volunteering to lead field trips, we are very open to
suggestions and ideas. We are looking for places all around Iowa where we
can connect with existing and potential young birders and also where there
are local volunteers or groups who can help us to spread the word. Our
actual field trip leaders are selected for their ability to connect with
young people and their enthusiasm and willingness to help us develop a
field trip model where the young birders' interests come first and we
focus on both fun and teaching opportunities. In addition, our IAYB Code
of Conduct established by our bird requires that any adult on a field trip
who is not a parent/guardian (or parent-aauthorized in writing)has
undergone a basic State of Iowa criminal background check which is on file
in our office.

We will be working closely with the IOU leadership and members on our
mutual goal of encouraging young people to study and enjoy birds and
birding.

Thanks,

Carl Bendorf

Great Newsletter put out by Carl. The birding community is so blessed wi=
that people like Ross Silcock and Denny Thompson who volunteer there time
for=
young people.

Thanks Carl for starting this group up.

It seems that there should be a natural partnership formed with the IOU. I
am sure that Carl would gladly accept other volunteers as this new venture
grows. So glad to have you and Linda back in Iowa.

God Bless,
