BIRDERS: Looking for a fun Sunday bird event with family and friends? Don’t miss the annual Pelican Festival, Sept. 9, 11 AM-4 PM at the Hawkeye Wildlife Area on Coralville Reservoir, located between Coralville and Swisher. Come and witness part of Iowa’s great American White Pelican migration; visit more than 18 booths and exhibits; enjoy presentations about pelicans. bird banding, raptors, getting started in birding and more; enjoy food and refreshments from the Boy Scouts. A new addition this year is a silent auction fundraiser to benefit Iowa Audubon—bid on binoculars, bird art, and many more items, with proceeds going to Audubon’s bird conservation and education projects.
