On a Decorah Audubon Chapter Field Trip this Labor Day morning at Cardinal Marsh, led by Dennis Carter, we found 3 red crossbills feeding in a dead cedar tree. Nine shorebird species, including a stilt sandpiper and a common snipe were good diversity and we had great looks with good light. Also saw 2 sandhill cranes.
