A little while ago I watched a hummingbird, using the pagoda dogwood tree
near the study window as launch pad, hawking tiny insects. It faced the sun,
better to see the myriad of little insects that seem to be in the shelter of
the tree. When it came back to the tree it would land, turn around to watch
and fly out again and again.
