I had the privilege to hear Dr. Franklin speak at the Ecological Society of America Annual Meeting in Portland, OR this August, and he was PHENOMENAL! His many years of experience as an ecologist, as well as his role in influencing national forest policy, have given him a special perspective. His keynote address was definitely one of the highlights of the conference, and I expect his lecture at Iowa State to be just as awesome.
