After I posted my message, I did what I should have done before I posted (and will do in future before posting), which was to check photos of the suspected bird online. I don't know what kind of bird I saw, but it definitely wasn't a Cerulean Warbler, which looks very different (and bluer) in real life than it does in my guidebook.
