We just put up a post talking a bit about some photo approaches at the bird
waterer this afternoon. Among the images is one that shows the size
difference between a Dark-eyed Junco and a warbler - probably an
Orange-crowned. It is not often two of such different sizes bath together in
our yard.

There was a flock with two very similar types of warblers early this morning
- probably Orange-crowned and Tennessee (the ones with very faint streaking
on their fronts) and some Nashville Warblers. Two Nashvilles came in this
afternoon.

The Hermit Thrush is still with us. It is fun watched her foraging technique
- she stands very still and then one of her legs will quiver very fast and
she will lunge at a bug that moves because of the quiver. Her feet do not
seem to move - just the leg. This is repeated as she moves from location to
location. I tried making a video of it but need a fluid tripod head to
minimize the jerkiness of my long lens and camera movements when following a
bird.

Yesterday afternoon, a Red-tailed Hawk was in a tall tree right behind our
yard looking down. Probably casing the area for squirrels. Have not seen any
chipmunks in a while. Would not mind if it had a taste for English Sparrows.
