The Armstrong's and I visited Lake Manawa in Council Bluffs this morning.
There were lots of birds on the lake, including four species of grebes and
fifteen species of waterfowl. Along with the Pied-billeds were 2 Western,
5 Eared, and 65 Horned Grebes. That may be the most Horned Grebes I've
ever seen in Iowa. Included with the waterfowl was a single Surf Scoter.

A stop at Lake Anita in Cass County on the way home yielded 2 Common
Loons, 5 Greater Yellowlegs and a Wilson's Snipe. We had 51 Red-tailed
Hawks during the trip.
