They kept flying back and forth across the road. Cool to see. Also in area: 2 Red bellied WP 2 starlings 1 N. Flicker 1 Red Tailed Hawk In North Liberty: 100 Starlings. Goose Lake, just NW of the Maytag warehouse. This was my first time stopping here and it was quite amazing. There were: 500ish Canada geese 40 Lesser Scaup 20 Mallards 3 Gadwalls 8 American Wigeon 2 Blue Wing Teal 12 White fronted geese 2 Cackling Geese Oakdale Research park: 350 Canada Geese 12 juncos 30 house sparrows 2 crows 1 chickadee Brown deer Golf Course 500ish Canada Geese 30 mallards 10 lesser scaup Coralville dam beach 1 bald eagle 7 Ring Billed gulls 2 American White Pelicans Wood Pecker Trail 4:00pm The trail is aptly named. 2 crows 1 cardinal 2 chickadees 3 red bellied WP and 7!!! The Coor and an army of volunteers have done a nice job clearing the understory and opening up the woods along here. They left many large dead trees, which the Wood Peckers are loving. Final stop at Squire Point trailhead and to rub in the lack of a camera: 3 more red headed WP 2 Red Bellied WP Sharon Somers North Liberty --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
