I have not been contacted by anyone. Sorry, Steve, it hasn’t happened. Beth Brown, Osceola
From: Steve Harvey Sent: Sunday, December 16, 2012 10:58 AM To: IA-BIRD Subject: [ia-bird] Screech owl needs help An screech owl was rescued from a cat and is being kept in a private residence in Osceola. I've seen the bird and it is alert and standing. Attempts to contact local licensed rehabbers, Beth Brown or Laurie Spencer have been fruitless. The DNR officer has been notified and is trying to make further contacts, but is personally busy with deer season going on. My wife is a retired mammal rehabber and is still listed on another rehabbers Iowa license. We could transport the bird to our home for temporary hold until and experienced licensed rehabber can take over. The residence in question is a group home for challenged individuals and the adult on duty gets off at 3:30 and feels the bird needs to be moved before she leaves. For now, we are waiting and hoping those more qualified can be reached to help this little critter. Any suggestions on care and first aid will be appreciated.
