On this first day of the post-Mayan apocalypse, I spent a few hours with the North Linn CBC (or the "Christmas Bird Count", for short). Best birds I found: Ring-necked Pheasant (5) - gasp - one more than I had seen this entire year. Eurasian Collared Dove (8) - all in Alburnett and the most I've seen at once in Linn County. Common Redpoll (6) - along a fence-line NW of Alburnett.
