We were out at the Prairie Heritage Center in SE O'Brien County this afternoon and saw many Rough-legged Hawks, one which was a beautiful dark phase. Also 4 Bald Eagles near the center and Little Sioux River. A huge murder of crows was settling in for the night in the cedar cover on Yellow Ave (near the Witrock Village site gate). When we got within a half mile of our place (south of us on the gravel) a Short-eared Owl was flying along the west side of the road, hunting low over the corn stubble and the ditch...haven't seen one for a couple years! (This is was on White Ave between 410 and 400 Streets.)
