Today, Rose and I did some road birding in Black Hawk and Bremer Co. In Black Hawk, just north of Dunkerton, we found a pair of Gray Partridges foraging in an open field. We also found a Northern Shrike. In Bremer Co. we saw a couple small flocks of Snow Buntings, a flock of 11 Lapland Longspurs and a R.H. Woodpecker. We also saw a Northern Shrike at Leopold W.A. and 6 Common Redpolls in Northern Black Hawk Co. Yesterday, at Lock and Dam 14 in Scott Co., there were gulls galore! We saw at least 1,000 or more. Among the more interesting gulls were the continuing 2 Glaucous Gulls, 5 Lesser B.B. Gulls (3 Ad. 1- 2nd W. and 1 1st. W.), 3 Kumlien's (2-2nd W. and 1- 1st W.), 3 Thayer's Gulls ( 1 Ad. and 1- 1st W. and 1- 3rd W.). At Lindsay Park on the Davenport Riverfront, there was 1- 1st W. Thayer's Gull and 1- 1st W. Kumlien's Gull. Also there were 2 Black Ducks. At Fairmount Cemetery we saw the continuing Red Crossbills.
