The Lone Tree Owls are back again this year, got some great shots linked
below. At Cone Marsh, met a nice fella who showed me a sandhill crane
with significant "growths" limping around the marsh on the S. Side.
Observed the slew of usuals (Canada Geese, malards) as well as lots of
RWBB and sparrows, cardinals, 6 sandhills, 3 great blue herons,3 bald
eagles, 2 Northern Harriers, as well as several hawks i was not able to
get a better look at, several kestrels as well as 4 meadowlarks on the
curves just north of the marsh (blacktop). Also flushed 3 what i believe
were snipe, but have to do some better "analyizing" before feeling
confident. saw a few killdeer but not many and looked for awhile for any
shrikes and came up empty.
