Upon discovering (February 2013) that I  did not have a single bird recorded in
Audubon County, my wife and I took advantage of a trip to West Des Moines to
swing by that county for 3 hours of birding.  Though we only covered about 25
miles (primarily in the SW corner of Audubon) we tallied 61 species between
10:30 and 1:30 today.  Nothing particularly stunning but Clay-colored Sparrow,
Red-headed Woodpecker, Swainson's Hawk, and 13 Harris's Sparrow in 3 locations
made for a rewarding day.

Polk County (Pearson Park)--Picked up a Black-throated Green Warbler and a
flyover Broad-winged Hawk while taking graduation photos of my grandson this PM.

Hope to see many of you at Cedar Falls this weekend.  Snow? Wind? Rain?  The
birds will still be there!!!

God Bless,
