The other morning around 6 or so I was pacing around my family room glancing at my feeder I heard an odd song or call.

It was a soft, short, very musical trill.  Slightly, but definitely, descending. Notes pretty close together -- too close to count but far enough apart to realize it was individual notes.

Of course every time I went to the window to look, I saw nothing.

Obvious culprits, i.e. critters which were up and visiting the feeders out side the window:
Chipping Sparrow -I looked in BNA and saw no info on an alternate or dawn song
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Baltimore Oriole
Chipmunk and probably some other furry critters in the flowerbed.

We have a variety of other birds, but I believe these were all that were coming close to the window.

I welcome any and all suggestions, direct to me, to avoid cluttering the list serve.  I will summarize the answers after I listen to the recordings. and see what matches.

Thanks
