Cooper's Hawk-  An immature along with two adults have been hanging out in
Griswold of Cass County near some downtown grain bins.  Alert spotter, Kelly
Weaver, (Ava's high school classmate and our house carpenter) clued us in on
these birds. We saw them on Tuesday and otherwise they have been around for
several weeks now.

American Golden Plover- A single bird was seen at TAYLOR COUNTY SANDS TIMBER
during my stop there on Wednesday afternoon.  The water level is low and also
included numerous Killdeer.

Upland Sandpiper- A single bird was initially seen foraging along the shoulder
of HWY 48 in Page County near the turn to Red Oak from Essex. It jumped on the
universal look out spot for this species, a hedge fence post, and eyed me as I
drove by.  When I resume my travels, it returned to the shoulder of the road.

And finally a bonus post. Ava's first cousin once removed from Texas is renting
her dad's house, 1/2 mile from us.  On July 4th, a group of nine Texans
gathering for the holiday there, had a Bald Eagle roosting in a tree across the
road from the home. They were amazed as it was only  30 yards or so away.
