With the rain the warblers are beginning to make an appearance. Although
there weren't waves of them, none the less I had eight species that I could
pin down, the birds being silent and high in the trees: Blackpoll,
Bay-breasted, Blackburnian, Black and White, Canada, Ovenbird, Wilson's and
Yellow at the park this a.m. Red-eyed Vireos, a Flycatcher species, and a
Swainson's Thrush plus Catbirds were there, also. The Barred Owl was
calling out to them all.

P.S. The new warbler book has a nice feature in that it is alphabetical.
The book could be confusing to a beginner with all the options. It might be
best to narrow down your choices to the bird in question with a standard
book and then go to Stephenson and Whittle to verify or do comparisons.

in man. Arthur Young
