Matthew, 
You got it right.  And was I surprised to see your post!  I was the one that 
was leading the class and was covering for our regular University of Iowa 
School of the Wild instructor, Meredith Caskey.  Two minutes into our bird walk 
this morning, we were blessed with a Pileated flying over an open field into 
the woods at the UI's Macbride Nature Recreation Area...200 m or so west of the 
Bluestem Shelter.  It was the bird of the day for this group of 10 6th graders! 
 (And for this old man.)  Thanks for posting!
