Saturday, October 19th The October field trip for Des Moines Audubon Society will be held Saturday, October 19. Meet at 8:00 a.m. in the parking circle near the bird blind at Walnut Woods State Park. We will also travel to Maffitt Reservoir. Please contact Jane Clark at [email protected] or 515-223-5047 for information about this field trip. To get to Walnut Woods from 63rd St. take 63rd St./Hwy. 28 south to "old" Army Post Rd. (There should be a sign there.) Go west past Willow Creek Golf Course to the "new" SW Connector. Cross over the SW Connector and "old" Army Post Rd. then turns into S. 11th St. Take S. 11th St. to Walnut Woods Drive and then turn left (west) on Walnut Woods Dr. and drive approximately .8 mile to the entrance of the park. To get to Walnut Woods from I-35 take exit 68 (HWY.5 Bypass exit) and then take exit 102.
