Mississippi River today at Lock & Dam #11 had two Black Scoters (a first
county record, I think), Red-necked Grebe, two Horned Grebes, two
Red-breasted Mergansers, and a Common Loon. Documentation photos of BLSC
and RNGR were submitted to eBird. Scores of ducks were rafting on the
river, including Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Canvasback, Redhead, Ruddy
Duck, Northern Shoveler, American Black Duck, and Mallard. A few
Bonaparte's Gulls were mixed in with a loafing flock of Ring-billed Gulls
on the Wisconsin side of the river.
