Preliminary tally on the Iowa City CBC yesterday is 64 species, just shy of
our 10-year average of 65. That's pretty good considering the only open
water was below the Iowa River dams and we only saw 5 waterfowl species.

Highlights included Trumpeter Swan, Redhead, Merlin, Northern Saw-whet Owl,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Northern Shrike, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Hermit
Thrush, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Fox Sparrow, Snow Bunting, Red-winged
Blackbird, meadowlark sp., Rusty Blackbird, Common Grackle, and Eurasian
Tree Sparrow.
