I finally made it over to Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines to search for the
winter colonial roost. At precisely 4:20 PM a single bird flew into the
traditional area that the birds have been seen. It immediately flew into a
large spruce and disappeared from view. In the past these birds would find
a visible perch to use for a short time before they. This was not the case
in this instance. I also only witnessed one bird. I will attempt to search
again. I was discouraged that there were not the normal 3-6 birds present.
I did not get great views of the bird so I was unable to verify the race.

If you would like to find this bird, head into the Cemetery from the east
entrance on 48th street north of University Ave. Go straight for over a
hundred yards. You will see a white sign welcoming you to Glendale
Cemetery. The bird landed in the trees surrounding this sign.

I saw the bird on Thursday the 2nd.

Good Birding.
