I drove by the pond on my way home from Hoosier Creek this evening!! Who would have known?! There seem to be some nice puddle ponds north of Solon along W6E.
Thanks for the help with the ID on those gulls. It's a shame I wasn't able to ID them myself and even worse report a false bird. I even have an iPhone with the Sibley's Application to my disposal when I'm in the field. I guess if I learned anything from this (besides all of the field mark differences you talked about today) it is that I should use process of elimination with similar looking species, rather than jumping on one species and being wrong. I had American Pipits and Baird's Sandpiper at Hoosier Creek, although I hiked way up to the mouth to be able to see anything. The Baird's was a life bird and the American Pipit was a new state bird.
