Round Pond and Greencastle Ave. were the best shorebirding spots this
morning until Peregrine Falcons cleared them out. I actually saw
a Lesser Yellowlegs taken, making the mistake of staying put before
flushing at the worst time. Short-billed Dowitchers and Western Sandpipers were
more evident than usual. The notables of 17 species today were;

 4 Juv. Western Sandpipers (Greencastle Ave.)
 9 Juv. Red-necked Phalaropes (Round Pond)
 3 American Avocets (continuing)
 3 Black-bellied Plovers

                                                          Cedar Rapids
