Coast to Coast Walk

29 September to 06 October 2002

In Aid of Children's Charities in Indonesia

On the 29th September 2002 Keith Maynard and Jon Elliott of ConocoPhillips Indonesia
will attempt to walk north to south across Java to raise awareness and most
importantly money for children's charities in Indonesia. The distance of the walk is
over 200 kms and will follow a route from Ancol, through Jakarta to Bogor, then south
to Pelabuhanratu via the Halimun National Park. Companies and individuals are asked
to financially sponsor our efforts. Projects and costs are detailed overleaf.

The distribution of funds is to be coordinated by an entirely volunteer-run charitable
organisation meaning that none of your donation will be used for administrative
purposes. The welfare committee has also identified and vetted the following projects
which urgently require funding:

* Community Sanitation Facilities at Batu Ceper, Tangerang A project to provide
clean water (by digging a deep well), toilets, showers and laundry for 500 people in
West Jakarta.
        Cost: Rp 74,500,000

* Harelip and Cleft Palate operations Carried out by local doctors and are
coordinated by two foundations with which ANZA has had a long relationship. See item
on the following page.
Cost: Rp 3,000,000 for both procedures

* Tuberculosis Cures for Children This sponsorship provides medication for 6
months for one child.
        Cost: Rp 275,000 per treatment

* Yayasan Balita Sehat is a clinic in South Jakarta whose aim is to combat
malnutrition through health, education and hygiene. Sponsorships provide essential
supplies to keep the clinic operating.
Costs: Rp 200,000 for milk for 1 week.
Rp 1,600,000 for de-worming syrup per yr.
Rp 769,000 to supply vitamins per month.
Rp 12,000,000 teacher's salary per year.

* East Bali Poverty Project: "Moringa Tree Project" The project offers
sustainable organic farming for the poverty-stricken people of the infertile mountain
slopes of East Bali. The project offers a sustainable source of key micronutrients for
malnourished pregnant women and children under 3.
Cost: Rp 30,000,000 for year 1, 25,000,000 for year 2

* Student Sponsorship: for high school students from poor families providing
money for tuition and books
Cost: Rp 650,000 per student per year

        * A three-month supply of milk for 30 children in a nutrition program.
This program for 30 children under the age of 5 from the extremely poor area of Kamal
Muara, a nourishing meal and glass of milk 3 times per week.
        Cost: Rp 1,000,000

If you require further details on any of these projects, please contact Keith Maynard

or Jon Elliott on [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Change A Life !!

Earlier this year this 3-year old child received surgery for a harelip funded by a
modest donation from a Jakarta expatriate. The cost of the operation has not affected
the lifestyle of the particular expatriate, but the operation will drastically change
the life of young Nuril.
