>Corruption, bureaucracy and the kind of contractual haggling that has >stalled development of Exxon Mobil Corp.'s 500-million-barrel Cepu >discovery for years, have deterred investors in the archipelagic >nation, which began producing oil 120 years ago.
Semoga impian 1.3 juta barrel ditahun 2008 tercapai. Ada yg menarik bahwa komitment investement sebesar 102.5 mil USD, dimana dua pertiganya utk drilling 27 sumur eksplorasi, jadi persumur hanya 2.5 juta USD ? Apa iya dengan harga minyak diatas 50 $/bbl RDP ==================================================== Indonesia awards oil blocks to Conoco, 8 others Date: 05/08/2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ConocoPhillips and eight mostly local firms have been awarded oil and gas exploration rights in Indonesia as the OPEC-member embarks on an investment drive to reverse declining output, an official said on Thursday. Conoco, the No. 3 U.S. oil company, has won the Amborip VI (Arafura Sea) block offshore Papua, one of 13 areas being offered by the government under the so-called direct-offer process. Another 14 areas offered under a tender process are expected to be awarded by the end of year. The government does not have reserve estimates for the blocks on offer. The total investment commitment by the nine winners is $102.5 million over the first three years, the official said. Two-thirds of that sum is reserved for drilling 27 exploration wells. Novian Thaib, director of exploration at the mines and energy ministry, said local companies awarded rights included PT Erry Guna in Bungamas block, onshore South Sumatra and PT Commissioning Services Indonesia in Bengkulu block, onshore and offshore Bengkulu province in the southern part of Sumatra. PT Bumi Parahyangan Ranhill Energia, a consortium of Malaysian and Indonesian firms, was awarded the Citarum block, onshore West Java; PT Star Energy was awarded the Sebatik block, onshore and offshore of East Kalimantan and Zaratex NV was awarded Lhokseumawe, onshore and offshore Aceh. PT Energy Timur Jauh was awared the East Kangean block, offshore East Java, and Benuo Taka will explore the Wailawi block, onshore East Kalimantan. "We expect those companies will find oil or gas to boost our reserves in future," Thaib said. "The signing of the contracts is expected to be carried out next month." Conoco is one of several big oil and gas firms operating in Indonesia with several working areas, including in South Sumatra, West Natuna and in North Sumatra's Aceh province. Indonesia, OPEC's second-smallest member, is offering new exploration rights and financial incentives on marginal fields in a bid to stem a steady decline in production that has threatened its status as a net crude oil exporter. Corruption, bureaucracy and the kind of contractual haggling that has stalled development of Exxon Mobil Corp.'s 500-million-barrel Cepu discovery for years, have deterred investors in the archipelagic nation, which began producing oil 120 years ago. Officials say the country still has 9 billion barrels of oil reserves and is aiming to boost production to 1.3 million bpd by 2008, although output has been steadily declining by about 5 percent a year and is at its lowest rate in three decades. It now pumps less than 1 million bpd of crude, a third less than its formal quota within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). But it is the world's biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas and claims reserves of some 190 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).
