R Priyono dipilih setelah menjalani fit and proper test seperti dua kandidat lainnya Senin 7 April kemarin. Priyono menang dalam voting yang digelar Komisi VII DPR di Gedung DPR, Senayan, Jakarta, Selasa (8/4/2008). Sebanyak 45 suara untuk Priyono dan 7 suara untuk Hadi Purnomo. Sementara Evita tidak memperoleh suara satu pun. Kardaya sendiri sebenarnya belum selesai menjalani masa jabatan yang diembannyasejak 2005 dan seharunya selesai 2010. Namun desakan dari Komisi VII sejak tahunlalu membuat pemerintah terpaksa melengserkan Kardaya dan mengajukan calon-calonbaru. Calon Kepala BP Migas 'Diusir' DPR Insiden menarik sempat mewarnai proses voting Kepala BP Migas. Setelah menunggu lama, ketiga kandidat Kepala BP Migas malah diminta kembali ke kantor masing-masing begitu pengambilan keputusan Komisi VII dimulai. "Katanya nanti dihubungi ke kantor," kata salah satu kandidat R Priyono ketikameninggalkan gedung MPR/DPR, Jakarta, Selasa (8/4/2008). Padahal, ketiga kandidat datang atas permintaan DPR. Bahkan Evita Legowo yang kini menjabat sebagai Sekretaris Timnas Bahan Bakar Nabati sudah menunggu sejak pagi. Sementara Priyono dan Hadi Purnomo jauh-jauh datang ke dari Purwakarta.
