Terimakasih kasih Pak Iman, Kesamaan dari rendahnya potensi gempa dan adanya gap kegempaan yaitu seismisitasnya yang jauh lebih rendah dari wilayah lainnya. Untuk menyimpulkan bahwa wilayah tersebut memiliki gap kegempaan (seismic gap) maka harus dibuktikan 2 hal yang saling terkait : 1. Adanya bukti positif bahwa pernah terjadi gempa besar disana (dari paleoseismic mis trenching, atau dari paleogeodesy mis coral). Rendahnya kegempaan bisa saja menunjukan tidak adanya potensi gempa (besar) apabila dari sejarah kegempaan tdk menunjukan bukti pernah terjadi gempa (besar). 2. Adanya bukti negatif dari aseismik slip (creeping). Hal ini mensyaratkan adanya interaksi rekatan (coupling) pada bidang kontak antar lempeng yang memungkinkan adanya akumulasi regangan. Akumulasi regangan pada bidang kontak, sering kali dapat diamati sebagai deformasi dipermukaan.
