*Course Overview :*
*1. **Petroleum Geology Of Fractured Basement Reservoir, Cuu Long
Basin, South Vietnam Field Trip.*
The objective of this field trip to give participants an overview of the
reservoir plays of the South Coast of Vietnam by visiting outcrop that
demonstrates part of the elements of the petroleum system analogue to
offshore Cuu Long Basin. There will be opportunities to review several
episodes of structural deformation leading to fractured reservoirs.
The past geological events affecting Pre-Cenozoic basement of Cuu Long
Basin left impressions on geological structure of Vung Tau-Phan Rang region
which are illustrated clearly in many outcrop along littoral zone of South
Vietnam especially Long Hai-Phan Rang region.
The onshore rocks along the coast are very similar to fractured basement
rocks of Cuu Lonng Basin especially granitic ones. They have the same
petrographic, mineralogic, chemical and isotopic composition and age. In
addition, the principal properties of deformation of Cretaceous onshore
granitic rocks are similar to those of Cuu long Basin basement. Thus,
understanding geology and deformation of rock onshore is the key to
understand basement rocks of Cuu Long Basin.
2. *CBM Reservoir Engineering, Drilling and Completion : From
Exploration to Production, the Technical Challenges*
This course is designed to assist individuals throughout the coal and
petroleum industries understand Coal Seam Gas (CBM). This workshop will
cover the entire CBM project spectrum especially in engineering aspect from
exploration to production. The workshop will cover CBM reservoir
properties, reservoir engineering for CBM, production and completion
methods, exploration drilling fundamentals, pilot program, directional
drilling, managed pressured drilling and production from directional
drilling.
3. *Operations Geology : Applied Concepts on Exploration Wells*
In a typical Exploration Campaign, Exploration Geologists identify and
assess the location, quantity and quality of HC reserves; ascertain
extraction risks analysis; prepare reports and maps; analyze
geological data using multi skills applications; and advise
technical and engineering team up to upper managerial
level, based on technical recommendation. In addition to these
responsibilities, Operations Geologists also requires the ability to
communicate adequately as an integral part of the team, along with
Drilling Engineer and Operations to drill exploration well in a safer,
efficient, and successful manner, aligned with its exploration goal.
